Cleanup files abandoned by Buienalarm (Rain Alarm)
Buienalarm (Rain Alarm) is an app that I’ve got on my smartphone and tablet for several years now. It is a very useful app because it warns about upcoming precipitation. You can also immediately see what the intensity of the rain shower is going to be, a blessed spring shower, a crackling summer thunderstorm or a drizzly autumn shower. That it is a free app, is a bonus. The app is targeted at an audience in the Netherlands, Belgium and parts of Germany.
You can find Buienalarm by means of the following buttons.
Now I’ve recently discovered that both on my smartphone as my tablet in the folder sdcard several subfolders appeared with a GUID (or UUID) [1] as name. Almost all these folders contain 3 files, 2 files with another GUID (without hyphens) as the one of the folder ending with the extension .0 and .1, the third file has the name “journal”. On my tablet there already were over 2000 of these folders and on my smartphone over 5000.
In the Dutch version of this blog post I explain a procedure how to cleanup these folders. However because the app is targeted mainly at a Dutch speaking audience I won’t translate it for now. If enough non-Dutch speaking people ask for the translation of this blog post, I might do it.
Notes
- GUID stands for Globally Unique Identifier and also is sometimes called a UUID which in it’s turn stands for Universally Unique Identifier. Actually a GUID is an implementation of UUID but the details about that are out of the scope of this blog post. If you want more information about it, you can find it through these links to Wikipedia.
